Questions and Answers

What is a premier companionship experience?

Golden Connections’ experiences are centered around the understanding that healthy aging and wellness is made up of 6 dimensions (occupational, social, intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual) also known as the Whole Person Wellness Model.  We engage in cognitive and sensory activities. Unlike most homecare services that cater to activities of daily living like cleaning, bathing and toileting, we focus on intellectual and social engagement. Our employees essentially are additional support and we’d like to call them a “trusted friend”.

Do your team members have uniforms?

Yes, our team members (trusted friends) will always arrive at your residence dressed in their uniform; a white shirt, grey pants, a belt and a name badge. Our interactions are casual and allow our clients to be comfortable.

Why utilize Golden Connection Senior Services (GCSS) versus the standard home care service provider?

Golden Connection service is for individuals looking to engage in activities to develop their social needs and assistance with errands versus those needing medical and daily personal needs provided by certified nurse aides. Loneliness and Social isolation is a silent epidemic plaguing the world, even before COVID-19 impacted the world in March 2020. Loneliness and Social isolation is as unhealthy as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. 1. This health concern ultimately impacts quality of life for all individuals, especially older adults. GCSS addresses socialization by personally engaging with seniors giving them engaging interactions which help keep seniors actively living confident and independent lives.

How are you handling COVID-19 restrictions?

We are staying updated on rapidly changing COVID-19 guidelines and adhering accordingly.  Our clients’ health and safety are our top priorities. Our team is vaccinated continuing to use personal protective equipment during every interaction.  Prior to each visit, GCSS employees are screened utilizing the CDC screening including the temperature check.

Have all Golden Connection Senior Services staff received their COVID-19 Vaccination?

Yes. We’ve all received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine.  We will continue to ensure our “trusted friends” safety protocol as the CDC learns more about the virus.

Is mileage included in the price?

Mileage is tracked for all services that require departing from the client’s home. Mileage rate depends on the package you’re signed up for. Besure to speak with your Engagement Specialist.

Is there a minimal time for various services?

Yes. We work to ensure quality interactions every time clients engage with our team members.  With that said, we’ve identified that consistent quality interactions with our clients are most impactful when they have a regular schedule (day of the weeks and times).

  • Companionship/Errands services – A minimum of 3 hour blocks of time per interaction. We suggest at least 2 times a week. This will allow the client to get to know their Engagement Specialist.
  • Goal Setting Coaching – After the initial consultation, a minimum of 2 hour blocks of time per interaction.
  • Technology Training (Individual/Group) – After the initial consultation, a minimum of 1 hour blocks of time per interaction.
  • Problem Solving Support – A minimum of 2 hour blocks of time per interaction. This allows the problem solving expert the time to understand the issue, resolve it and work with the client regarding next steps.

Why is goal setting important for the senior/older adult population?

Setting Goals in life is helpful in having direction and intentionally guiding ourselves toward an objective. This is no different as we age, actually it is more crucial.  As we do have our daily responsibilities of work and family to drive our tasks. Goal Setting provides older adults with purpose and reason to get dressed everyday. This in turn helps increase physical and mental activity.
